he world famous Florida sunshine is at its best right now, temperatures soaring every day, school closed for summer and an overactive hyper kiddo with an attention span of not more than 7 minutes. Enough things to keep me sweating, no pun intended. These days I am always on the look out for some fun project for her to get busy with. Today was the day to make these pops and FIFI the monster sock puppet! LOL.She just turned five, a very curious, sensitive and observant girl all geared to start her kindergarten very soon. She questions everything, tries to find a reason behind anything that happens or does not happen around her. She doesn't like to be told what to do (yes she is our drama queen) and believe it or not already has developed a great sense of humor. Like this one time she asked me "mommy what kind of car does Mickey mouse's wife drive?".. "a cute pink car", I said. "No! A mini van" she screamed giggling :)) She is learning to write cursive and she LOVES math (much to my relief lol)
She likes to shop different kind of shoes, pink ones with flowers on top is always her favorite. She is big into hair accessories. She is embarrassed beyond belief if I ask her in front of people whether she wants to go pee pee. She has opinions when it comes to picking out a dress for herself or for me for that matter. And she wants to cook real food in the kitchen just like mumma does. What can I help with she asks! Just letting her drop a couple spoonfuls of flour while making the cake batter or letting her play with the garlic pods doesn't work anymore. She thinks that is paper food as she calls it when she thinks it is not the real deal. She wants to make real food.. like rolling the puri and frying it too.. wonder who she gets this from! *wink wink*
I am always surprised and amazed how she manages to roll the perfect roti or measure the flour for the cake so accurately, levelling it in the cup just right. The sparkle in her eyes and that smile on her face could tell how important it is for her. We had loads of fun making and devouring these pops. By now you probably guessed that she did most of the work for these.
They are few key words that can sum up these pops very well- quick, breezy to make, only 5 everyday ingredients needed, decadent, fun, summery, 4th of July.. and yes it does taste like cookie dough! A must try I'd say :)
Ingredients: makes 10
| Milk | 2 1/2 cups ( I use 2%) | |
| Light brown sugar | 2/3 cup, packed | |
| Vanilla extract | 2 tsp | |
| Salt | couple pinches | |
| Mini chocolate chips | 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp | |
1. Place milk in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 1 minute, or until warm to the touch. Stir in brown sugar and salt until dissolved. Stir in vanilla extract.
2. Place 1/2 tablespoon chocolate chips at the bottom of your Popsicle molds. Fill to the top with milk mixture. Insert sticks and freeze until solid or overnight. ENJOY!

Looks super cool!!
Fun post.. Loved reading about your daughter. Couldn't help thinking about my almost 5 year old son, girls are so different than boys -- girls are more sensitive and vocal, but son talks a LOT but is not much involved in cooking/ baking unless the dish has chocolate in some form. I think he'll love these pops. Will try to get him involved when making them.
Enjoy your weekend and rest of the summer!!
Your daughter sounds like so much fun :) Love the look of these ice pops...Enjoy your summer !!
