realize the nutella freak in me has been going crazy with these nutella based desserts/recipes lately and believe me I was totally and deliberately trying not to post anything remotely related to the yummy goodness. Then I saw this saw this recipe and I knew I had to give in. For the longest time I thought those chocolate bars were only possible by specialized machines in the factories and needed time and work to make but was pleasantly surprised with this recipe. It is so easy and equally delectable. The same great chocolate bar taste with the added touch of nutella and sea salt to give it a gourmet feel is now all homemade. This one's a winner!Ingredients:
| makes about 12 | ||
| Caramel candy | 24 pieces | |
| Honey-wheat Pretzels | 24, 4" sticks | |
| Nutella | 1/3 cup | |
| Dark chocolate chips | 2/3 cup | |
| Sea salt | For sprinkling, optional | |
1. Place the caramel pieces on a plate in a single layer. Microwave for 8 seconds, just until they are pliable but still firm. With two pretzels side by side in the palm on the hand, line 2 caramel pieces along the pretzel from one end to another. Gently push the caramels down using a thumb and index finger to bind the caramel to the pretzels. Repeat this with the remaining pretzel sticks and caramel.
3. Spoon the Nutella into a ziploc bag and cut the tip off. Pipe on to the non-caramel side of the pretzels. Carefully spread the Nutella with the back side of a spoon.
4. Place chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes and stir until smooth. Place the pretzel (Nutella side up) on a fork and carefully dip the pretzels in the chocolate rocking the pretzels side to side to get the pretzel bars completely coated. Lift the bar from the chocolate and allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
5. Place bars on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle desired amount of sea salt, if using. Place in the refrigerator for 20 - 30 minutes or the freezer for 10 - 15 minutes to help harden the chocolate coating. ENJOY!
