Strawberry Basil Lemonade

s the weather warms up, if you are craving for something cold, bright, crisp and refreshing, this is the drink for you! Pretty, very girly - romantic and glamorous and a color that is to die for. This drink always leaves an impression. The fabulous flavor of fresh juicy strawberries riding over the base of refreshing citrusy lemons with a twist of basil infused syrup, this drink has the taste that you will want to remember and come back often to.
A wonderful thirst quencher on a hot summer day or any day for that matter. Strawberry lemonade makes for a delicious party drink or for just a casual get together.

Ingredients:
Lemon juice .................................... 1 cup about 5 to 7 lemons
Basil simple syrup .............................. 1 cup (recipe below)
Sparkling water ................................. 2 cups chilled
Ice ................................................ as needed
Strawberry ...................................... 2 cups hulled and halved
Lemon, Strawberry slices ..................... for garnish
For Basil Simple Syrup-
Basil ....................... 2 cups packed fresh, washed and stemmed
Sugar ...................... 3/4 cup
Water ..................... 1 cup

Method:
1.In a saucepan combine basil, sugar and water. Simmer until the sugar is dissolved, 5-6 minutes. Cool, strain the syrup, and store in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
 2. Mix lemon juice, basil simple syrup and water together in a pitcher. Blend the strawberries and strain into the pitcher. Stir well. Store in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Pour sparkling water.
3. Pour over ice filled glasses and garnish with lemon wedges/strawberry slices.ENJOY!
NOTES:
1. I love using sparkling water but you can substitute it with chilled regular water.

2. If you are in the mood, feel free to add some vodka, wine or rum.

Aipi, many thanks for your very kind words on my blog. This drink sounds divine! I know strawberries go well with basil but never thought to put the two flavors together in a beverage. You know, if you add basil seeds to this, they'll form tiny glutinous-looking balls in the drink and you get the extra crunch and interest. Try it!

I'm going to keep this for summer time! I make lemonade, but not with straberry + basil. I like that combination and I must make it this summer - Today it's too cold to have this in SF. :-) Thank you for sharing! ALready can't wait to try!

Hi! I just found your blog via Rebecca from Chow and Chatter. Your lemonade looks so good. I have lemons ripening on my tree and the strawberries are in season so I'll be making this soon! Also checked out your mango lassi recipe since my kids love lassi (our good friend makes it for them whenever they visit). Happy to have found your blog. All the recipes look wonderful!

@ Ammu Mohan- Thanks for your feedback- I would like if you kindly explain what you meant by saying my blog is high maintenance - constructive feedback is always welcome!

aipi said...

@ Akila- Thanks dear- Sparkling water also known as club soda or soda water is easily available in grocery stores and I add them in drinks to make them fizzy bubbly n soda like you can use chilled water instead. But I will prefer this if available.
