Pista rose falooda and my first award :)

This chilled and delicious drink/dessert is perfect for summer times (I can have it all year round ;)). I just love its beautiful pink color. It is such a treat to eyes and tastebuds alike. It is also fun to have because of the different textures of each ingredient. In India it is generally considered to belong in the street food category. I remember whenever we used to go out to eat chaat and panipuri (which was very often) we had to have falooda otherwise the whole outing used to be incomplete. It is so refreshing and very sophisticated with the delicate rose and pista flavor.. yum!

Ingredients:
Milk ........................................ 2 cups (I use 2%)
Sugar ...................................... 1 tblsp or to taste
Rose syrup ................................ 4 tblsp or to taste
Falooda noodles .......................... a small handful cooked in boiling water for 3-4 minutes and drained
Basil seeds (Tukumeria) ................ 1/4 tsp soaked for an hour in 1/2 cup water
Cardamom powder ..................... a pinch
Pistachios ................................ 2 tblsp coarsely chopped
Pista ice-cream or kulfi ................ 2 scoops

Method:
1. Heat the Milk and let it come to a boil. Take it off the flame. Add Cardamom Powder and Sugar. Mix.
2. Keep the milk in refrigerator to chill for about 3 hours.
3. Add the basil seeds and rose syrup to the milk, stir well, refrigerate again for 1/2 an hour.
4. In a tall glass, take 1 - 2 tblsp of falooda noodles and a scoop of icecream pour the milk mix over it. Garnish with pista and serve. ENJOY!

Now lets move on to my award (and some bragging :D) Being a two week old infant in the blog world, I am extremely happy to have received my first award. It was awarded to me by Umm Mymoonah (she is a total sweetheart) of Taste of Pearl City. Thank you!

I am so thankful to the food blog community and also to my newly found friends through the blogosphere who have welcomed me into the community with a warm heart.

Per the rules of this award, I have to extend it to three of my fellow blogmates. I concur with the common sentiment that every member of the food blog community deserves this but sticking to the rules, the three I have chosen are Sayantani of A Homemaker's Diary, Satya of Super Yummy Recipes and Swathi of Zesty South Indian Kitchen.

Even during my non-blogging days, I used to visit Sayantani's blog quite frequently. She is a great story teller and an even better cook. If you visit her blog, you will know what I mean. One one hand she has many authentic dishes perfectly recreated and on the other, she experiments and creates some of the most innovative dishes.

Satya, (besides being the first visitor on my blog :) is one of the most active food bloggers I have seen. The great thing about her cooking is that her dishes are always new and innovative. She puts in a lot of energy into her passion for cooking and it shows if you visit her site.

I am a regular visitor on Swathi's blog. Her site is a great source of authentic south Indian cuisine that is traditional and innovative at the same time. She is also adventurous and tries different kinds of recipes. I love her way of story-telling and explaining the recipes. She is a great at baking as well.

So Sayantani, Satya and Swathi, it is a pleasure to extend this award to you great folks. Please collect this award from me and share it with three other bloggers.

Puja - Where do you buy the falooda noodles and basil seeds? I'm not sure that I can find it in the local Indian grocery store.
